Today is the 18th anniversary of when I first joined the games industry. To mark this momentous occasion I’m now making my game, Mr. Smoozles Goes Nutso, absolutely free to download and play.
I first joined Revolution Software in February of 1993 as an artist and did some background work and sprite animation on Beneath a Steel Sky as well as some initial work on the first Broken Sword game. I then moved into a producer role for the first two Broken Sword games before moving over the design and writing side of things.
In 2004 I turned freelance and concentrated on writing and design and have been very fortunate to have worked on a large variety of titles, including the PC game, So Blonde, for which I received a nomination in 2008 at the Writers Guild of Great Britain Awards.
My greatest pleasure as a games professional has been meeting and working with a large range of highly talented people. Without all the combined creativity of everyone involved games wouldn’t have the rich detail and sense of fun they do.
This year promises to be another intersting one and when I’m able to tell you a bit more about it later in the year I’m sure you’ll find it interesting, too.
Finally, I’d like to thank all the people that have supported me over the years. June, my partner, is top of the list, along with my family and friends. But I’d also like to thank the people who follow my blogs, conduct and read my interviews and spare the time to help out with testing and feedback – it’s all so valuable to my mental well-being. Also, all of you who have bought the games in which I’ve been involved – a big thanks. Without the sales I wouldn’t be able to do this job I love so much.
Here’s to many more anniversaries. Cheers!
Cheers Steve! Thanks for all the great games you made or helped make and let there be many more 🙂
Thanks, Pollo. It’s very kind of you to say so. I’m hoping for lots more games, too.
Cheers and my very best wishes Steve! Thanks for the creativity and the excellent games.
Thanks for taking the time for the kind thoughts.
Well I’ll be… You’ve got some of the best adventure games on Your belt, and yet You’ve just hit adulthood. You Sir, will go places.
Congrats! Here’s for at least another 18.
And thanks for the very Nutso Mr. Smoozles (may i recommend anyone installing to take a peek at the License Agreement ;)).
Thanks. I think someone will have to collect my pension for me in another 18 years. 🙂
Who on earth reads license agreements? 🙂
