Super Mario Galaxy - gameplay

I've just watched this gameplay footage for the second time.

What a fabulous looking game!

What great fun!

This is going straight to the top of my most wanted list. Sod those story games if there is fun like this out there. :)

It's weird because I've never been particularly drawn to Mario games in the past, but I can't believe how cool and fun this game looks. Have I been missing out on something great all this time?

Yeah, and this video just shows a tiny bit of the full experience, I guess.

I've watched maybe 4 or 5 gameplay videos, and every single one showed something completely different and fun.

Could be the game with the most varied and charming gameplay ever. It just oozes 'games are fun'.

Yes! Exactly!

While I can appreciate the care, skill, attention to detail and a million other things that go into many of the more "realistic" games for the XBox 360 or PS3, the fun games are what appeal to me more and more as a player.

Then you should definitely consider to play some of the other Mario-games. Maybe buy Super Mario World or Super Mario 64 from virtual Console.

Or maybe even better, pick up the quite excellent Jak and Daxter (the first one), if you own a PS2 or a PS3 with backwards compatibility.

I feel that in many ways alot of platform games are similar to comedy adventure games, in the way they draw the player into a cartoony world with funny characters. Sometimes I wish there were a bit more character interaction though.

Oh, and Psychonauts hits Xbox Live in December, I'm definitely going to download it, since I've always been meaning to play that.

Psychonauts is just brilliant! I would certainly recommend it.

Thanks for your recommendations.
